Reduce your stress and heart disease can be prevented

Although there has been little scientific research into stress and heart disease there is an general appreciation that stress does have a negative effect on health.  We all would think that a less stressful lifestyle would make a difference to our health.  If you can reduce the level of stress in your life and heart disease may play less of a factor in the future.

  

Heart disease and stress 

With regard to the possibility of a link between heart disease and stress we know that stress does increase heart muscle reactivity. Stress does increase blood pressure which is known to be a  cardiovascular risk factor.  See hypertension

If you perform your assessment then this will tell you the additional risk of you having heart disease that comes from your lifestyle.

Here are some suggestions for lowering your stress levels.

If you have an unusually stressful lifestyle then you may need to take stress and heart disease more seriously.  Although at present the scientists have not worked out the numbers there is most likely a connection between heart disease and stress.
