What is a healthy heart diet?
The secret is to have the correct balance between the three food types.
Balanced healthy diet
A balanced healthy diet comprises proteins, carbohydrates and fats in the correct proportions. Protein is an essential part of a healthy heart diet as it is used in many important bodily functions such as growth and maintenance of muscle, bone, skin, hair, a healthy immune system and others.
Simple carbohydrates are broken down to glucose which is our fuel. It is best to get the majority of dietary carbohydrate from complex carbohydrates "starches" as these provide better nutrition.
Fats are an important part of nutrition because they are necessary for absorption of certain nutrients, including essential vitamins.
Those individuals who think about the types and quantities of the food they are eating in order to reach a balanced heathly diet will not only be more healthy themselves they will feel less bloated, have more energy, weigh less and have a general feel of well being.
