A knowledge of your family history provides a most useful predictor of your future.

It is common knowledge that family members have similarities such as hair color, height etc. so it is reasonable to think that there is a possibility that for some family members heart disease may also be inherited.

  

Familial heart disease 

Not all heart disease is inherited however familial heart disease is common. Heart disease can be caused by a number of factors of which an inherited predisposition is a major part.

If you think there is familial heart disease in your family then why not performing a risk assessment for yourself.  This would provide you with the knowledge to help identify any potential for your heart disease.

The family medical history component of your overall risk for heart disease would be the same for you and any brothers or sisters you may have so you could hightlight any possible concerns with them also.
